Henrik Frendin is known as one of the most versatile and progressive string players of the Swedish music scene. His artistic output covers a wide range of musical genres from classical to contemporary electro-acoustical and modern jazz.

Together with instrument maker Richard Rolf, he has developed a new string instrument called the electric viola grande. Accompanied by Manning Camerata, and supported by the Swedish RIkskonseter, Henrik Frendin will première a new work for viola grande, Musiqu Noir, by Swedish American composer Daniel Nelson – the first performance of a work for viola grande in the UK.

Musique Noir will be an exploration of the visual language of film noir, expressed through music and accompanied by live video mixing.
